Hoopers

If you’ve been thinking of trying a new activity with your dog, have you heard of Hoopers?

Hoopers is a relatively new and rapidly growing sport to the UK. It originated in America and quickly spread to Europe where it gained popularity in countries like Switzerland and Norway before coming to the UK in 2017.

Hoopers is a low-impact, mentally stimulating activity for dogs of all breeds and ages. It involves guiding your dog through a series of large, open hoops, barrels and tunnels through voice cues and body language. The goal is to complete the course quickly and accurately, with the dog moving through the obstacles in a smooth and controlled manner. Unlike agility, which often includes high-impact jumps and tight turns, hoopers is designed to gentle on a dog’s joints. This makes it ideal for

  • Older dogs

  • Puppies

  • Dogs recovering from injury

  • Breeds prone to joint issues

It’s a great exercise for dogs to stay active and fit without risking unnecessary physical strain. It’s also a great activity for strengthening the bond between owner and dog through teamwork.
